GREAT MOUNTAIN PROPERTIES, LLC was opened in 2001 by Jerry and Susan Houchins. Jerry Houchins, Broker, has an extensive background in sales and business management and has over 10 years of experience in all aspects of real estate. Family roots in Monroe County are traced back to the 1700's when ancestors settled in the Greenville area. Jerry has been a Director representing Monroe County on the Greenbrier Valley Board of REALTORS® for several years and served as President of the Greenbrier Valley Board of REALTORS® for 2005. Susan has a background in sales and business management having owned and operated several businesses locally and in Florida. She is also a licensed REALTOR® and co-owner. Both are members of the National Association of REALTORS®, West Virginia Association of REALTORS®, Greenbrier Valley Board of REALTORS®, and Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Jerry is licensed in both West Virginia and Virginia and has the GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) designation.

Jerry and Susan both love the outdoors and all it has to offer. They live on a farm in Lindside, WV at the base of Peters Mountain, with their horses and dogs, enjoying the incredible scenery, peace and quiet Monroe County offers and are members of the Appalachian Christian Center.

Great Mountain Properties, LLC welcomes Derek Houchins to the family business.

Derek attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri on a football scholarship. Derek also did a hitch in the United States Marine Corps where he was an honor graduate out of boot camp. He became a Scout Sniper and his tour of duty took him to Cuba, Japan, Korea and all over the western United States.

Derek has deep family roots to Monroe County. His ancestors date back to the early 1700's when they settled in the Greenville area. Derek moved to Monroe County in 2003 from Orlando, Florida to become involved in the family business with his dad and step mom, Jerry and Susan Houchins.

Since moving to West Virginia in 2003 Derek has had a lot of great things happen in his life over the last few years, #1 on that list is getting Saved and Baptized this has really helped him prioritize his life and things have started to fall in place!! #2 on the list is getting Married! Derek started to date Whitney shortly after he moved up here. After dating for a year and a half Derek popped the big question to Whitney and lucky for Derek, she accepted and on May 7, 2005 they tied the knot. Soon after getting married they bought their first home and settled in the small village of Lindside. Last and certainly not least Derek has since been elected to the Greenbrier board of Directors and he really enjoys working with the Board and being involved. He looks forward to helping Buyers and Sellers reach all their Real Estate goals so please call Derek if you have any Questions!

Tom Marcinkowski and his family have recently relocated to the Peterstown area. Before moving, Tom had visited West Virginia for many years to hunt. Feeling that it was the perfect place for his family to settle down, Tom, his wife Michelle and 1-year old son Thomas, moved to scenic Monroe County. Tom joined the team at Great Mountain Properties, LLC, a local real estate company owned by Jerry and Susan Houchins. Tom has been a long-time friend of the family, a friendship with Derek Houchins beginning in elementary school in Orlando, FL.

Tom has a background in heavy equipment sales, where he worked many years for his family business in Florida. His interests include hunting; fly fishing, golf and a love of horses. He also enjoys working on his property in Peterstown, enjoying the view of Peters Mountain, spending time with his wife and son, and attending the Appalachian Christian Center.

Most recently, Tom lived in New England, and was a licensed REALTOR® in both Vermont and New Hampshire. Tom is currently licensed in both Virginia and West Virginia. He is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, West Virginia Association of REALTORS®, Greenbrier Valley Board of REALTORS®, and Multiple Listing Service (MLS). In June of 2007, after 30 years of teaching math at Narrows High School, Michael retired from teaching and began to work full time with Great Mountain Properties, LLC. He has worked part time since earning his real estate sales license in July of 2004, and has also maintained the web page for GREAT MOUNTAIN PROPERTIES, LLC since the opening of this family business.

Michael and his wife Cathi reside in Lindside, West Virginia. They built on the family farm and have resided there since 1985. He is a native of Giles County growing up in Rich Creek, Virginia.

Along with teaching school and working in the real estate business, he also pastors the Appalachian Christian Center in Peterstown, West Virginia. Michael and Cathi have served as the pastor since December of 1992. The church is a nondenominational church welcoming all who have a desire to serve and worship the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
